Millet Burgers

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 1 cup millet
- 3 cups water
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 grated carrot
- 1 onion, minced or cut small
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 cup wholemeal breadcrumbs, or a slice of bread shredded into pieces
- 3 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme or 1/4 teaspoon marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon sage
- 1/4 cup fresh minced parsley
Recipe
- 1 use 1 cup of millet for 3 cups of water, add a pinch of salt and cook for about 25-30 minutes. the millet can be roasted before cooking to add a nutty taste to the grain.
- 2 saute the onion and garlic first, then add the carrot. simmer for about 5 minutes then mix in a large bowl along with the other ingredients.
- 3 the mixture can be made into patties and fried until golden or they can be baked at 375 f (200 c) for 40 minutes.
- 4 alternatively: the mixture can become a millet loaf by putting the mixture in a baking dish in the oven.
