Moohammara/ Muhammara - Traditional Lebanese Appetizer

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1 medium onion, quarterd
- 1/4 cup pomegranate molasses (or juice)
- 3 roasted red peppers or 4 tablespoons red pepper paste
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- crushed dried pita bread
Recipe
- 1 in food processor, combine onions and walnuts.
- 2 gradually pour in the pomegranate molasses, mix in the peppers or paste.
- 3 as slowly as possible, add both the olive and vegetable oil to the mixture while the machine is running.
- 4 gradually add bread crumbs until the mixture turns into a thick paste. drizzle with olive oil and serve with pita wedges, crackers or cut vegetables.
