Hazelnut Chocolate Brownies

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 200 g hazelnuts, roasted, peeled, coursely chopped
  • 250 g good quality dark chocolate
  • 185 g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Recipe

  • 1 pre heat oven to 160 c.
  • 2 grease 16 x 16 cms pan and line with baking paper.
  • 3 melt chocolate and butter together in bowl over saucepan of boiling water.
  • 4 cool slightly.
  • 5 beat eggs, sugar and vanilla with electric beaters till thick and pale.
  • 6 stir in cooled chocolate.
  • 7 sift in flour and baking powder, stir till just combined.
  • 8 add hazelnuts, mix in well.
  • 9 pour into prepared pan, bake for 35 - 40 minutes.
  • 10 cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn onto wire rack.
